Introduction
- Iodamoeba Butschlii is non pathogenic intestinal amoeba
-The distribution is worlwide although not common as Entamoeba coli and Endolimax nana.
-The transmission of this parasite is by fecal-oral route and infection is asymptomatic.
-The life cycle of Iodamoeba butschlii is same as Entamoeba coli and Endolimax nana.

Morphology
Divide into two forms that are trophozoite and cyst:
Trophozoite:
Iodamoeba butschlii trophozoite have a size 8-20µm with coarsely vacuolated cytoplasm containing debris including bacteria and yeast. It also has a large karyosome that usually fills much of intranuclear space. Chromatin granules radiating from the karyosome may results in the “basket nucleus” appearance of this parasite. Iodamoeba butschlii does not have peripheral chromatin. Motility of this parasite trophozoite is sluggish and non-progressive.
Cyst:
The cyst of Iodamoeba butschlii is measures 5-20µm, with no visible chromatoidal bars. It frequently contais a large glycogen vacuole that is fresh and stains reddish with iodine solution. In permanent stains, Iodamoeba butschlii cyst the glycogen vacuole appears as a clear unstained space. The cyst contains a single nucleus, which is seldom seen in iodine stained preparations. If seen in permanent stained smears a large karyosome may be present in an eccentric position.
